The time of the year has come when the thought of leaving the house in the rain and wind awakens only one desire – to stay at home under a warm blanket. If you, like me, do not like to freeze, then this article is for you.
The English have a proverb “There is no bad weather, there are bad clothes.” In this matter, it only remains to agree with them. Otherwise, you will have to freeze for the rest of the autumn and winter.
It often happens that people who are freezing, dress in lighter clothes than those who are comfortable in the autumn-winter period. But I must say right away that putting on a fur coat as soon as the summer is over is not an option. Although there will always be those who will say that the fur coat is the warmest, and they will be only partially right.
Errors in the compilation of images for the cold season
If you are healthy, well-fed, have had enough sleep and are still freezing, then something is wrong with your clothes. Too open places in the image can be sources of heat leakage. Such “cold bridges” may be obvious and not very.
Conspicuous areas of the body, covered unseasonably – these are the places from where the heat rapidly leaves not only this area, but also the whole body, making it shiver in the cold wind. For example, the fashion for bare ankles makes autumn images more vulnerable to the cold.
There are areas of the body that freeze harder than others, and need more insulation. As a rule, these are legs, arms and neck. Some people have individual characteristics when other parts of the body freeze: ears, shoulders, knees.
1. Open neck
It is not necessary that if the wind blows in the neck, then the throat will hurt. There is no direct connection here, but the feeling of cold outside will definitely be provided.
2. Few clothes underneath
Another common variant of images in a feminine style, in which it will definitely be cold– is adequately warm clothes from above and its absence from below.
Such images are common during the return of the mini length to fashion. Women have to sacrifice something in order to show their legs and usually sacrifice warmth.
3. Out-of-season shoes
This mistake can lie in wait for every girl and woman at any age when warm shoes seem too shapeless or inelegant. With the advent of massive shoes, it became easier to choose such shoes for the cold weather so that the feet were comfortable. But still, the heat in the leg area is a very individual value and varies from person to person.
Rules of stylish layering for cold weather
So, in order not to freeze even at plus 15 degrees, and even more so at subzero temperatures, layering will help us.
A multi-layered image in a modern style is understood as several layers of self-sufficient clothing worn on top of each other. If you remove the top layer, the image remains the same complete and does not require additions.
2-3 thin things, worn on top of each other, warm better than one warm. Layering will save you if you need to get to work for a long time in the cold season. Then in transport, the top layer can be removed or unbuttoned, put the scarf, hat and gloves in the bag. Layering is also useful if you need to leave the room for cold air and back during the day. By removing and putting on layers, you can adjust the heat.
From sports high-tech clothing, we can take note of the way to compose multi-layered images. In sportswear , there are usually three layers:
1. thermal underwear (underwear)
2. warming layer (fleece or wool)
3. jacket plus trousers (non-restricting movement, non-wetting fabric)
The principles of sports layering can be adapted to urban conditions:
1. Instead of thermal underwear, you can choose thin underwear that will be less noticeable under your clothes. Summer T-shirts and T-shirts are useful here. Thin blouses and shirts are also suitable as the first layer.
2. Instead of a fleece jacket, you can take woolen things or things that at least partially contain wool in the composition. They warm well, but they are blown. Another layer option is things made of dense denim, fleece or costume fabric. These can be shirt jackets, sweatshirts or jackets.
3. Instead of a membrane jacket, a coat, raincoat or insulated jacket will do. It’s fine if the top layer has a rain impregnation.
Shoes should not be small or completely butt-to-toe. It is better to have about 0.5-1 cm of margin around the foot. This is necessary so that there is a layer of air, as an insulator from the cold.
A fluffy scarf, hat and gloves are mandatory attributes of any warm image. Up to 10 percent of the heat goes through the head, so such freezing people like me are the first to put on a hat.
We also do not forget about the lower part of the trunk. Here we can use thermal underwear from a ski suit, if the width of the trousers, the length of the dresses and the height of the shoes allows. Such thermal pants retain heat better than “gaiters” or, as they are now called, knitted leggings. If there is a need to be outside for a long time in a skirt or dress, then add two layers under the skirt. Let it be a layer of wool tights and a layer of leggings on top.
Lovers of dresses for a note. If you wear a T-shirt under a thin dress or blouse, then an additional layer of air will appear between the body and the clothes. It is he who will retain body heat under a thin cloth.
As soon as the air temperature drops below 10 degrees, I close all the exposed areas of the body until spring. This allows me to survive the autumn and winter comfortably. What about you?
